We train
![]() |
SCA’s advanced training partners yoga and meditation with contemporary and contemplative psychology as these tools may apply to at risk/in need populations. Our training offers a holistic and specialized approach to working with people in need and at risk by addressing and providing essential understanding of, and awareness practices for, the populations we work with: those living in chronic pain and with illnesses, people living with PTSD, at risk youth and adults and those struggling with a variety of addictions.
Our experience shows that the typical yoga teacher training does not adequately prepare one to work effectively with these populations. Nor is it either safe or effective for therapists, social workers or psychologists to offer yoga and meditation without proper training.
Led by Jill Satterfield. our consortium of highly skilled yoga and meditation teachers, clinical psychologists, social workers and contemplative Buddhist psychotherapists offers in-depth teacher training through workshops, classes, mentoring, community gatherings, hands-on internships working, and study.
SCA’s teacher-training program is the first in the country to weave together the disciplines of yoga, meditation, and psychology to address the needs of at-risk and in-need populations. Our target populations include:
Youth Action – empowering and educating at-risk youth
Health & Wellness Action – helping people living in chronic pain and with illnesses, trauma, and addictions of all kinds.
Graduates of the SCA training program are now teaching in a variety of venues, including hospitals, rehab centers, schools, halfway houses, nursing homes, kids summer camps and alternative to incarceration facilities.
